Czechoslovak bash
They take our jobs. And spots at universities. They kept the most beautiful mountains and bryndzové halušky. And also that temperament—they could have sent us a bit of that. But at least we have someone to look down upon condescendingly and feel a bit bigger and better. Jožo, say 'řeřicha'! And what does your 'drevokocúr' mean? 'Čehúni & Čobolové'. Those from east and those from west. Czechs and Slovaks. Brothers or eternal foes?
Are we still so cool even after the split? Are we a wound and a knife? Two fools at sea? Are we just calling each other cute names? Or do we have a thousand reasons for a hundred breakups? Do we still understand each other? The newly formed band, composed of all members of the ensemble, will open a safe space for dangerously goofy nostalgia at the Goose on a String Theatre yard. Because where else to speak Czechoslovak than in Brno? The staged concert directed by Anna Davidová will feature the most famous Slovak melodies as well as the most embarrassing Czech stereotypes. A bash as renewed conversation between nations that could not even be divided by a border. But what kind of times will the flash above the Tatra mountains bring?
Anna Davidová (1984) is, thanks to her dreamy directorial poetics and temperamental imagery, ranked among the most outstanding directorial talents of the younger generation. As a freelance director and, from 2019 to 2021, artistic director, who fundamentally contributed to the current shape of the theater at Zelný trh, she created a number of productions at Husa na provázku that were enthusiastically received by the professional public and the audience. She won the Theatre Critics Award in the Talent of the Year category. From season 24/25, she returns to the Goose on a String Theatre as a home director.
